An elderly woman has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver shortly after visiting her local shop with police appealing for witnesses. ‌

Emergency services were called to Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley, Merseyside, at around 4.15pm on Friday, December 5, following reports that a dark-coloured vehicle had collided with a pedestrian near the junction with Third Avenue. ‌

According to police , the 81-year-old victim, who lived in the area, is believed to have been returning from a local shop when the vehicle hit her. She sustained severe injuries and was taken to Aintree Hospital, where she sadly passed away a short time later. ‌
