WAUSAU − The Wausau School District honored six individuals and organizations for their volunteer work during the annual Friends of Education Awards Nov. 19, according to a community announcement.

The awards ceremony, held at the Wausau School Forest, recognizes the contributions of volunteers who support the district’s schools and students.

Jeff and Janet Gosch were nominated by Chris Smith of Riverview Elementary School for their consistent support in classrooms and on field trips, as well as their contributions of snacks and school supplies.

Melissa Peterson, who was nominated by Katelyn Landerman and Sadie Trapp of Hewitt-Texas Elementary School, was recognized for her positivity and willingness to help wherever needed.
