The Chatham Area Transit Board may be headed toward its second restructuring―if state Sen. Derek Mallow's proposal gains traction.
Mallow spent about 15 hours making phone calls and taking meetings―with a brief pit stop for sleep―before he presented a framework to add two seats to the CAT Board on Thursday. He said the move could break the impasse between CAT and the Chatham County Board of Commissioners. The feud started earlier this year when the state legislature passed a law that reduced the number of county-appointed seats from six to three, while expanding the total number of seats from nine to 11.
