Cicero, N.Y. – A family-owned Central New York company that has been making industrial and commercial laundry equipment for nearly 80 years has been sold to a European company.

Jensen North America , a subsidiary of the Jensen-Group, acquired G.A. Braun Inc. , which has been making industrial and commercial laundry equipment since its founding in Syracuse in 1946. The transaction was announced on Friday.

Braun moved to Hancock Air Park in Cicero in 2009 and expanded its factory in 2015. The Cicero factory, now owned by Jensen Braun LLC, employs 255 people.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Tony Biela, president of Jensen North America, said the acquisition was driven by the company’s desire to increase its production capacity in the U.S.
