The death of a 39-year-old man in custody in Glasgow has been referred to the police watchdog.
Emergency services were called to a flat on Berkeley Street in the city centre at around 6.45am on Friday, December 5, following reports of a disturbance.
The man was taken into police custody before he became unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Two women, aged 25 and 40, and a 27-year-old man were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the man’s death is being treated as unexplained, and enquiries remain ongoing. The circumstances of the incident have also been reported to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).
