I want to acknowledge Peter Raymond’s concern that my previous guest opinion relied on “whataboutism,” which can be defined as deflecting from one issue by raising another. In the Nov. 19 RH Open Forum, he wrote, “Even if a president in the past had broken laws and violated our Constitution’s separation of power … which Trump is doing now, it is still not legal or OK.”

I agree, and I did not intend to suggest otherwise. My goal was to address several claims from the “No Kings” rallies and then draw comparisons to clarify beliefs, not excuse wrongdoing. I apologize for not making that clearer.
