LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - This day in 2024 was a historic moment at Nebraska’s State Capitol.

The Government of India gifted Nebraska a bust of Mahatma Gandhi . It was the first time India gifted a bust of the social activist to be placed in a state capitol .

During a special program, Governor Jim Pillen said he sees Gandhi’s values in the ones Nebraska has. He also proclaimed this day a Day of Remembrance for Gandhi.

The bust is available to see upon request and during tours of the Capitol in Lincoln.
