A popular store-brand nut mix has been pulled from Wegmans shelves after routine testing at a supplier raised a red flag.
In a company announcement on Friday, Dec. 5, Mellace Family Brands California said it is recalling specific packages of Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. This bacteria can cause serious illness, especially in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
The recall covers 34 ounce tubs and 11.5 ounce bags of the unsalted Deluxe Mixed Nuts. Both products were sold at Wegmans locations in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Delaware and Washington, DC, between Monday, Nov. 3, and Monday, Dec. 1.
According to federal recall records, the issue surfaced after routine testing found Salmonella in 1 lot of raw pistachios that was later used to make the mixed nuts. No illnesses have been reported, but the company said it is acting out of caution while the affected product is removed from stores.
Shoppers can identify the recalled nuts by size, UPC and date code:
- Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted, 34 oz tub, UPC 077890421314, Lot code 58041, “Best By JUL 28, 2026”
- Wegmans Deluxe Mixed Nuts Unsalted, 11.5 oz bag, UPC 077890421352, Lot code 58171, “Best By AUG 10, 2026”
The lot code and best-by date appear above the nutrition label on the side of the tubs and on the back of the bags below the nutrition label.
Salmonella infections in healthy people typically cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and stomach pain, and in rare cases can lead to more serious complications if the bacteria enters the bloodstream.
Anyone who has the recalled nuts at home is urged not to eat them. Packages can be returned to a Wegmans service desk for a full refund. Customers with questions can contact Wegmans Food Markets at 1-855-934-3663 any day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern time.
