Mohawk Mountain Ski Area in Cornwall opened to skiers and snowboarders on Saturday after seeing snow earlier this week.

“We’re really excited to be here,” James Martin said. “It’s our first day skiing around here and we’re just really hyped for the season.”

Riders wasted no time hitting the slopes traveling from all over to enjoy the winter activity.

“We’ve been looking for a spot to go snowboarding for a while now. Not a lot of the mountains are open right now,” said Matt D’Andrea. “We saw this actually pop up yesterday online, so we took advantage.”

The mountain’s ski patrol described the early morning conditions as nice.
