The National Weather Service says numerous Michigan cities set new record lows for Dec. 5.
According to data, Detroit set a a new record Friday morning of 5 degrees Fahrenheit while Flint fell to minus 3 degrees, the weather service said in a post on X on Dec. 6.
Detroit broke a 1974 mark of 6 degrees while Flint's previous record, also 6 degrees, came in 1991.
Where temperature marks fell amid frigid cold
Here's where else temperature records were set (temperature data is not listed for all Michigan cities, others may have set new marks):
In Marquette, the high reached 12 degrees on Dec. 4, below the previous record low high of 13 set in 1972 in Negaunee Township. Records go back to 1959.
