Dick Morris, the well-known political consultant who helped former President Bill Clinton win his 1996 re-election bid, came to President Donald Trump’s defense Saturday by launching into a racist rant directed at Muslims, who he said immigrate to the United States to “open up colonies” and take “over the country.”
“We see this situation in Minnesota with Somalians,” Morris said Saturday during an appearance on Newsmax, where he was introduced as an advisor to Trump.
“The effective massive Muslim immigration is really not designed to find homes for people who would like to live better, it's designed to invade the United States, and they open up colonies like the 80,000 people in Minnesota. [They] elect their own congressmen, elect their own senators, elect their own governor.”
Somali migrants make up less than 1.4% of Minnesota's population, but nevertheless, Morris insisted that their influence in the country was strong enough to nearly decide the position of the vice president in the 2024 election, given Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s spot near the top of the Democratic ticket last year.
Morris’ comments came in response to new immigration policies announced by Trump recently, which include ending deportation protections for Somalis in Minnesota, which itself was followed by Trump calling Somali immigrants “garbage.” They were also made in response to Trump’s remarks Friday that Europe was facing “civilizational erasure” if it didn’t change its immigration policies.
“His view is – and I think he's right – that European policies [are dooming European competitiveness],” Morris said.
‘Gigantic time off, huge benefits for workers, no great emphasis on productivity, no great emphasis on working very hard; short work days, short work weeks. [It’s] dooming European competitiveness not only economically, but it's making Europe weak in the face of massive Muslim immigration.”
Morris was championed for his remarks by Newsmax host Rita Cosby as an “interesting way to look at it,” with Morris going on to blame recent shootings in the United States on what he called the “phenomenon of colonization of America” by Muslims.
“You're talking about a lawless element that is very self interested in basically taking over the country and using immigration as a way of doing it,” he said. “It's a whole new chapter in the fight against illegal immigration.”
