Avonworth finished off a perfect season by defeating Northwestern Lehigh 31-7 for the PIAA Class 3A championship on Saturday in Mechanicsburg.
After a heartbreaking overtime loss last year, the Antelopes (15-0) were winners in their second straight appearance in the state finals.
The Tigers (15-1) were trying to repeat as champions, but they couldn't top the Antelopes in the rematch this year.
Two other local teams are representing Western Pennsylvania in the state championships at Cumberland Valley High School's Chapman Field. Clairton won the Class 1A title
