SHELBYVILLE, Ky. — He's Donald Trump's hand-picked choice to run against U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky), a frequent critic of the President within his own party.
Republican Ed Gallrein of Shelbyville acknowledges it'll be a challenge to unseat the popular Massie, who's up for reelection in 2026, and has $2 million on hand for his campaign.
"I've been an underdog in everything I've ever done," Gallrein told WHAS11 at his farm on Friday.
He believes Trump’s endorsement gives him a chance to show voters in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District — which stretches from Oldham, Shelby and Spencer counties to Northern Kentucky — that he aligns with the president’s agenda and will work to advance it in Congress.
