COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Survive and advance. The Newberry College Wolves are headed to the NCAA Division II football semifinals after taking down the #1 Albany State Golden Rams in a 31-24 thriller.
The Wolves came into Saturday’s game 11-1, their most wins ever in program history, and are now on a 10-game winning streak.
After going down 21-3 in the first quarter, the Wolves stormed back, scoring 21 points of their own in the second to bring the halftime score to 24-21.
In the middle of the third, Newberry’s Quez Spells ran for 34 yards to give the Wolves a 30-21 lead.
Albany State responded with a field goal of their own, bringing the score to 31-24.
