CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - Kirtland defeated Hopewell-Loudon 41-6 to win their eighth state title.
Senior running back John Silvestro had an impressive four rushing touchdowns to seal the Hornets victory.
Silvestro rushed for 255 yards on 19 carries and four TDs, which ties a Division VI state championship record.
This was Kirtland’s 14th state championship appearance in 15 years. Hopewell-Loudon has made it to three state championship games, but has not won a title.
Most recently, the Hornets captured the Division VI title in 2023, defeating Versailles 32-15.
