LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Police departments across Ingham County participated Saturday in the annual Shop with a Cop event, pairing roughly 100 children with local officers for Christmas shopping.

Each child received a $100 donated gift card to shop with their assigned officer. The program serves families throughout Ingham County and has become a cherished annual tradition.

“We meet up with the kids at a school down the street, we get partnered with a kid from the community. And then we, one of my favorite parts, is we drive lights and sirens from the school to the store, and we get to go shopping for about an hour with a $100 donated gift card,” said Glenn Briggs, an officer with the Lansing Police Department.
