AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Registration for the James Brown toy giveaway opened on Saturday.

The annual event gives families a chance to have a toy under the tree.

The giveaway is for children ages 1 to 11.

To register, you need a state ID, a Social Security card and a birth certificate for each eligible child.

A sergeant who saved two people from drowning in the Savannah River was honored with a life jacket loaner station bearing his name.
