The top-ranked Ferris State University football team has utilized its dominant rushing attack and stifling defense to consistently wear down its opponents late in games this season.

The Bulldogs used that same formula Saturday to secure an impressive 52-29 home win over Minnesota State in the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals. Ferris State outscored the Mavericks 28-8 down the stretch to secure a spot in the program’s sixth national semifinal game in seven seasons.

The Bulldogs gained a 482-283 advantage in total yardage on Saturday, including a 307-118 edge in rushing yards.

The Division II national semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13. The four remaining teams – Ferris State (14-0), Harding (14-0), Newberry (12-1) and Kutztown (14-0) – will be reseeded heading into the
