NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A suspect wanted on multiple warrants was rescued by police and fire personnel after diving off a bridge while fleeing from officers, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
MNPD said an officer was dispatched to 175 Lafayette Street for reports of a vehicle burglary early Saturday morning.
When the officer arrived, he saw a man matching the suspect’s description in the parking lot, and when the suspect spotted the officer’s patrol car, he reportedly tried to hide by getting into a nearby car.
The officer drove toward the vehicle, and the suspect reportedly quickly got out of the car and began walking away. MNPD said the officer gave commands for the suspect to stop, but he continued to flee across the street to a bridge over Browns Creek.
