Young people claiming benefits are set to be offered jobs within the construction and hospitality sectors as part of efforts to tackle rising youth unemployment. The Government has unveiled an £820 million initiative designed to support nearly one million individuals in transitioning from benefits into employment.
This includes funding for vocational training and practical work placements across construction, hospitality, and health and social care sectors, targeting 350,000 young universal credit claimants. Others will receive "intensive support" to assist their job search, whilst Government-backed jobs will become available for up to 55,000 young people from spring 2026 onwards.
