The coordinator at Mahoning County's " only humane society and a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a full-service vet clinic" announced her retirement on Saturday via a post on social media.

Jane MacMurchy worked with the Animal Charity of Ohio and the surrounding community for almost 9 years, according to the post, which consisted of years working "so hard to fight for change, to build a better future, to save as many lives as possible, but also to be there for each other and work together."

MacMurchy also stated the thankfulness of the community members over her time in the position, as well as the number of other organizations that have helped along the way.
