MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Hmong New Year, which is celebrated throughout the harvest season, continued Saturday at Madison Area Technical College (MATC).

The holiday is considered the most important festival in Hmong culture.

At MATC, people gathered to shop from traditional food vendors, browse through jewelry, learn about community resources and compete in a singing competition.

For the first time, there was also a booth honoring Hmong culture and history through generations of clothing from a single family.

“We’re trying to educate the community and even our Hmong people,” Phoua Her, a relative of the Hmong clan that exhibited their clothing, said.
