Donald Trump is making the same mistake with the affordability issue as he did with the COVID pandemic in his first term.

He's denying the problem exists rather than positioning himself as the one who can fix it.

“The word affordability is a con job by the Democrats,” Trump said last week. “The word affordability is a Democrat scam."

That may be true to a certain extent. Even so, it's one Democrats are successfully leveraging to erode Trump's popularity and position their party for a sweep of next year's midterm elections.

Since Zohran Mamdani rode affordability concerns to victory in November's New York City mayor's race, Democrats believe they have found the magic elixir to make voters forget how poorly they fared under the Biden administration.
