The woman had entered the police station on Tuesday where she engaged with police and spent some time in the foyer before exiting the station and returning to her vehicle at about 6:30pm that day

A critical incident investigation is underway after a woman's body was discovered in a car outside a police station.

About 4:30pm on Friday 5 December 2025, police officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District located the body of a woman in a vehicle, outside the police station, in Pioneer Drive, Lake Illawarra.

Early indications are that the body has been in the vehicle since approximately 6:30pm on Tuesday 2 December 2025. While the woman has not been formerly identified police have confirmed she was 48-years-old following an assessment by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
