JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson State’s back-to-back championship hopes came to an end on Saturday after losing to Prairie View A&M in the SWAC Championship, 23-21.
This loss for the Tigers puts an end to their goals of making it to yet another Celebration Bowl on Dec. 13.
It was a big win for the Panthers, earning the school’s first conference championship since 2009.
It was a tough start to the day for Jackson State’s offense, going three-and-out on their first three possessions of the game.
Prairie View was able to find the end zone on its second possession after a six-play, 49-yard drive capped off by a seven-yard Cameron Peters run.
