DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) -- A U.S. Postal Service truck crashed head-on into a car Saturday in the north suburbs, killing a woman, police said.
The crash happened around 10:07 a.m. in the 1700 block of Mannheim Road in Des Plaines.

A USPS truck driven by a 48-year-old man was traveling southbound on Mannheim Road when it drifted into the northbound lanes, hitting a car head-on, police said.
Both drivers were taken to a hospital. The driver of the car, 65-year-old Laurie Jensen of Mt. Prospect, was later pronounced dead, Des Plaines police said.
The USPS driver told police he lost control of the vehicle, officials said. He has been cited for improper lane usage and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 16, 2025.
