ANN ARBOR – Michigan State’s hockey team earned its revenge Saturday night in enemy territory.

Freshman forward Anthony Romani scored twice, including the game-winner early in the third period, to lift the third-ranked Spartans to a 3-1 victory over No. 1 Michigan at Yost Ice Arena.

MSU (12-4, 5-3 Big Ten) was shut out by Michigan (16-4, 7-3) at home on Friday for the first time since 2000 and was snake-bitten for the first 38 minutes Saturday, despite a bevy of chances. The shot that finally snapped its scoring drought came from a sharp angle.

Patrick Geary’s shot from the point produced a big rebound to Romani, who banked a shot off Michigan goalie Jack Ivankovic from below the goal line to tie the game at the 18:44 mark of the second.
