ATLANTA — Georgia ended years of frustration against Alabama with a 28-7 victory here Saturday in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game. Here’s three things we learned from the contest:
1. Taking advantage
The Bulldogs didn’t pile up an enormous edge in total offense Saturday against the Crimson Tide (297-209). They didn’t have to. Instead, Georgia turned every big Alabama mistake into points. A blocked punt and an interception in the first half, a 24-yard punt return to start the third quarter and a turnover on downs in the fourth led to Georgia touchdown drives of 21, 57, 40 and 12 yards. With Christmas gifts like that, Georgia couldn’t help but win.
2. Rounding into form
Earlier this season, Georgia’s typically fearsome defense looked gettable. The Bulldogs won a wild 44-41
