DES MOINES, Iowa — Former NASCAR driver Michael Annett died Friday at the age of 39, according to his representatives.
JR Motorsports, the team with whom Annett drove from 2017 until his retirement in 2021, confirmed the news on their social media platforms.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Annett family with the passing of our friend Michael Annett. Michael was a key member of JRM from 2017 until he retired in 2021 and was an important part in turning us into the four-car organization we remain today," a statement from JR Motorsports read.
A cause of death was not announced and additional details are unavailable at this time.
A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Annett made his NASCAR debut in 2008 driving for Bill Davis Racing in the Craftsman Truck Series. He made seven T
