AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A routine fire call turned into a death investigation Saturday after Akron firefighters discovered a body in the remains of a shed fire.

Firefighters were called just before 10 a.m. to put out what was described as a dumpster fire inside a shed located behind a vacant drug store on South Arlington Street and Minota Avenue.

When crews arrived, the fire was fully engulfed.

After the flames were extinguished and the smoke cleared, a body was found inside the structure.

Investigation ongoing

The circumstances surrounding the death have not been determined, according to an Akron Fire spokesperson. The case remains under investigation.

What remains at the scene includes tires, odds and ends, a shopping cart and what appeared to be a purse.
