Answers on the future of the mostly empty Indio mall and the land around it could be closer.

During a city council meeting held Wednesday, Dec. 3, city staff said they are making progress on an agreement to sell vacant land behind the mall to the mall's owner, Haagen Co., which could then redevelop the combined property.
