The Toledo Walleye overcame an early deficit and eventually emerged victorious in overtime against the Fort Wayne Komets with a 5-4 win on Saturday at the Huntington Center.
Tanner Dickinson scored the game-winner on a Walleye power play — their fourth goal on the man-advantage — at the 6:56 mark of overtime to seal the victory, with Riley McCourt and Brandon Hawkins providing the assists.
Fort Wayne jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals by Kirill Tyutyayev and Matt Miller.
Colby Ambrosio got Toledo on the board late in the period to make it 2-1 after 20 minutes.
After Blake Murray scored for the Komets midway through the second, Chad Hillebrand cut the deficit to 3-2 with less than two minutes to go in the frame.
Ambrosio scored his second goal to tie the game
