MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Downtown Madison launched its first-ever “Santa on State” this week, converting the lobby at 127 State Street into a full Santa’s workshop.

The new holiday attraction features lights, trees and toys where families can meet Santa for free, take their own photos and share last-minute wish lists. Organizers said the goal is to bring more holiday cheer and foot traffic to downtown during December.

“We are right on schedule,” Santa said. “The elves are working extra hard this year. While I’m here, the elves are in the workshop working away, getting all these gifts ready for the children. It’s going to be a wonderful Christmas.”

Santa on State is open on select dates throughout the season. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras or smartphones for photos.
