The Associated Press has a new and odd journalistic tic. It inserts “without presenting evidence” when it reports a statement by a Republican.

Odd, because you’d expect that in a court proceeding, not when reporting a simple narrative of what someone said.

It’s subtle bias, meant to undermine the veracity of a statement. Let the reader decide. Better yet, the AP reporter might add factual background to the article.

I’m reminded of Adam Schiff’s repeated declaration that he had evidence of Russian collusion. It didn’t materialize. But the AP didn’t point out that gap.
