OMAHA, Neb. —
A routine patrol turned into a life-or-death situation for Deputy Joseph Komor on Friday. He responded to a call about a one-month-old infant who wasn’t breathing.
“I was just in the area patrolling when the call came out that a one-month-old was not breathing,” Komor said. “I arrived, I was the first one, and I saw the mother performing CPR.”
Komor rushed to the scene near 90th and Ida, but he wasn’t alone.
“It was more than just me,” he said. “The mother was performing CPR, the radio people were helping her through it, and I did what I could and what I was trained to do.”
He praised the mother for staying calm under pressure.
“That would be an incredible amount of stress. I just wanted to commend her for keeping it together,” Komor said.
