A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle at a major intersection on Saturday, Dec. 6, police announced in a release on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Samantha Cianci, 27, of Commack, was driving a 2025 Volkswagen south on Nicolls Road when she hit a woman who was in the roadway at Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook at 5:30 p.m., Suffolk County detectives said.
The pedestrian—described as a Hispanic woman approximately 30 to 40 years old—was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the release. Police are still working to identify her.
Cianci was not injured in the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8646.
