CHICKAMAUGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – In Chickamauga, families gathered for another beloved tradition, the annual Christmas tree lighting celebration.
For many, this marks the unofficial start of the holiday season.
Parents, children, and neighbors filled the streets bundled up and watching as the 30-foot Christmas tree lit up the town square.
Mayor Trey Deck says this night is about more than lights.
“And the great thing about this tree is we want it to bring our community together,” Deck said. “We want everyone to know that Chickamauga is right with the season. We are here, and we are going to stay here, and we love our community.”
Many attendees shared how special the moment felt, especially younger residents.
“Just making me feel really happy and all that stuff,” said community member Dali
