INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana University president Pam Whitten looked around Lucas Oil Stadium and knew she was just getting a small glimpse of the celebrations that were kicking off across the country.
As No. 2 Indiana football put the final touches on a 13-10 win over Ohio State to capture the program's first Big Ten title since 1967, Whitten was thinking about one of coach Curt Cignetti's favorite stats.
"It's amazing," Whitten told The Herald-Times. "We are the largest living alumni base in the country, 806,000 people with an Indiana University degree, this is for every single one of them."
Whitten has been a prominent figure at football games throughout Cignetti's tenure and spearheaded the investment in football when she was appointed to her position in 2021. She approved paying out
