FOX’s Nov. 20 decision to move the game from the 4:25 p.m. national window to a 1 p.m. regional slot seemed logical at the time. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was still on injured reserve following toe surgery, and his return was uncertain. Days before the flex, Cincinnati was crushed 34-12 by Pittsburgh, dropping to 3-7 and appearing out of the AFC playoff picture.

Meanwhile, the Bills—who later lost that night in Houston to fall to 7-4—were second in the AFC East, making the matchup far less appealing than when the schedule was released in May.
