The Thanksgiving holiday is a special time for those who love the outdoors. Food and family and often times an opportunity to go hunting or fishing, no matter how cold it might be.
When Waties Lalich's dad, Michael Todd Lalich — Lalich to those who know him — asked if she wanted to sit in a deer stand the day after Thanksgiving, the 11-year-old fifth grader at Orange Grove Charter School didn't hesitate.
"We went up to Cameron because my dad's friends were going to hunt and asked us," said Waties, who harvested her first deer when she was in the first grade. "We got up there and it was freezing. I had eight layers on. I think it was 42 degrees."
She said they were in the stand for about 30 minutes when a doe came out of the woods. Her dad pointed out how anxious the doe seemed — nervo
