Police are investigating the death of a British cyclist, known only as Harry, who was killed in an alleged deliberate hit-and-run incident in Tenerife. The tragedy occurred on Monday evening in the municipality of Arona, where emergency services were alerted around 8pm.

Harry was cycling on the TF-652 road, which connects Las Chafiras to the fishing village of Las Galletas, when he was struck. Local reports have characterised the incident as a hit-and-run, with the island newspaper El Dia stating that the Civil Guard is looking into the possibility that the incident was a murder. The report noted, "After initial inquiries, officers reached the early conclusion that he wasn’t run over by accident."

Initial investigations were conducted by local police, but the case has since been transferred to the Civil Guard. As of now, no arrests have been made. A makeshift memorial has been established at the site of the incident, featuring flowers, candles, and a photo of Harry. A Liverpool football shirt has been affixed to a palm tree nearby, alongside heartfelt messages, including one that reads, "I love you forever wee bro."

A regional emergency response coordination centre reported that they received calls shortly before 8.15pm on December 1, indicating that a man had been knocked off his bike. Two ambulances, along with local police and the Civil Guard, were dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, they could only confirm Harry's death upon arrival due to the severity of his injuries.

While some local reports suggest that the victim was 25 years old, official confirmation of his age and full name has yet to be released. Authorities have not clarified whether he resided in Tenerife, although there are indications that he may have lived on the island. The investigation continues as police seek to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
