The M4 is blocked after an accident in poor driving conditions. The blockage has resulted in heavy traffic during treacherous driving conditions.

The affected area is westbound from junction 36 A4061 (Bridgend / Sarn service area) to junction 37 A4229 (Pyle / Porthcawl).

Visibility appears to be poor in the area and rainfall is creating a wet road surface along the whole of the motorway.

The Met Office forecast for Wales today says: "A wet and windy day as a band of rain continues to push northeastwards bringing prolonged and heavy downpours, accompanied by strong winds."
