A North Carolina mom had a "gut feeling" that something was wrong with her daughter—two hours later, she would be fighting for her life.
Earlier that day, mom Stacy, who did not share her full name for privacy reasons, told Newsweek that she noticed a series of unsettling signs in her toddler.
Stacy had just returned from work as the family prepared to go out, but the moment she saw her daughter, something felt off—her eyes were watery, her expression unusually heavy, and energy suddenly drained.
"What scared me the most was how different it felt from the usual moments when she’s just tired or sleepy—this wasn’t that," Stacy said. "This was something that didn’t feel like her at all. I remember this sinking feeling in my chest, knowing that something was truly wrong. "
