Alabama’s 28-7 loss to Georgia in Saturday’s SEC championship game was shocking in any number of ways.

Just how shocking was it? Here are five stats or facts that tell the tale of one of the worst and most surprising Crimson Tide defeats in recent memory:

1. It’s only third time Alabama has been held to single digits since 2005

The Crimson Tide avoided being shut out for the first time since 2000, but its scoring “output” was one of its worst in the 21 st century. Since Nick Saban arrived at Alabama in 2007, Alabama has been held to single digits only two other times.

One was in the “Game of the Century” vs. LSU in 2011, a 9-6 loss for Alabama in overtime. The other was last year, a 24-3 defeat at Oklahoma.
