One person is dead in an overnight shooting in Charleston.

Charleston police confirmed that a man is dead following a shooting at around 2 a.m. in the 800 block of Main Street on Charleston's West Side, in the Luna Park neighborhood.

No one is in custody, but CPD Lt. Tony Hazelett said police don't think this was a random shooting and there is no danger to the public.

CPD had cleared the scene by 8 a.m. Sunday, but Hazelett said the investigation continues. This is the sixth reported homicide in Charleston in 2025, and the 11th in Kanawha County.
