A Maryland family is grieving an unimaginable loss after Rodney Carter died unexpectedly last week, becoming the third child his 88-year-old mother has had to bury.
Carter, a longtime Baltimore-area resident, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, at his mother’s home, according to loved ones.
He leaves behind three children, his ex-wife Angelica, and a mother who has already endured more loss than most families ever face.
Loved ones said Rodney had worked at Price Modern for 10 years, where he was known for being reliable and bringing positivity to the job every day. His sudden passing has left the family struggling to cover funeral and transportation costs as they brace themselves for yet another burial.
Relatives said the family is coming together to support one another and manage arrangements in the middle of overwhelming grief.
Friends and co-workers have stepped in as well, sharing memories and offering help to ease the financial burden.
A GoFundMe launched to assist with Rodney’s final expenses has raised more than $3,100 of its $3,500 goal as of Sunday.
Organizers noted that every contribution goes directly toward funeral and transportation costs, so the family can focus on healing, "ensuring Rodney’s family can focus on healing and remembrance."
“We are deeply grateful for the time we had with Rodney and for the dedication he showed as a reliable worker and great teammate," they wrote.
"Any amount you can contribute will make a meaningful difference for his family, and we thank you for your kindness and support."
