Kirby Smart and Georgia football are ranked No. 2 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll released Sunday, Dec. 8

The Bulldogs moved up a spot after its 28-7 victory of then No. 9 Alabama in the SEC Championship game, Georgia 's ninth straight win.

Georgia (12-1) is expected to play in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 against the winner of a first-round game to be announced on Sunday.

The Bulldogs won their second straight SEC championship and third in the last four years.

Georgia held Alabama to minus-3 yards rushing and 209 total yards.

"To win back-to-back SEC championships, it's every kid in this footprint's dream, and an honor to be at Georgia and to be the head coach here and win games like this," Smart said.
