CLARKSVILLE, Ind. —

An early-morning structure fire discovered by police officers in Clarksville forced residents to evacuate.

Clarksville Fire posted that around 4:45 a.m., crews were called out to a structure fire in the 400 block of Evergreen Drive. The fire was discovered by passing Clarksville Police officers, who alerted the residents and assisted in evacuations.

Fire crews arrived on scene to find an active fire, which they worked to control and put out. Officials noted that controlling the fire was difficult due to its location.

Fire officials said that parts of Evergreen Drive are blocked off and advised drivers to avoid the area.

The scene is under investigation by fire officials.
