Charlie McAvoy was back on the ice with his teammates on Friday, taking part in a full team skate for the first time since suffering a horrific facial injury last month. The defenseman was hit in the face by a slapshot during a game against the Montreal Canadiens on November 15.
The injury turned out to be serious, as McAvoy underwent surgery on November 19 to repair a linear fracture in his jaw. Since then, the Bruins’ star defenseman has been working his way through a tough recovery process while staying away from game action. Friday’s skate marked a big step forward, even though he still has not been cleared to return to games.
