Alabama football is headed to the College Football Playoff, and Notre Dame fans aren't happy about it.

The Crimson Tide , Notre Dame and Miami were circling the last two open seats in the 12-team playoff field, and when the music stopped, the Fighting Irish was caught standing still. As it turned out, Alabama 's awful showing in the SEC Championship Game, a 28-7 loss to Georgia, not only didn't cost the Crimson Tide a playoff spot, it didn't even cost it a seeding spot. UA was ranked No. 9 going into the SECCG, and was still at No. 9 when the selection committee's dust settled.

UA will travel to 8th-seeded Oklahoma for a Friday night game (7 p.m. CT, ABC). The winner will take on No. 1-seeded Indiana in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day. MAKING THE CASE: Kalen DeBoer makes Alabama
